BCC’s Rescue Program

When trapping feral cats, BCC volunteers often come across young kittens and friendly adult cats. Kittens that are 6 weeks old or younger are turned over to BCC’s Rescue Team to be placed in foster homes for socialization, comprehensive vetting, and placement in adoptive homes. Friendly adult cats are rescued when there is room in BCC’s foster care network for an adult cat that is likely to take longer to place than a kitten.

To apply to become an approved foster home, you must complete our online application at: BCC Shelter Luv Adoption

Rescue means taking action.

Here are the critical steps involved in rescuing a kitten or adult cat:

01.

Notify BCC via email, phone, or social media to any sightings of free-roaming, unowned cats (especially kittens) in the Beltsville area - this step is time sensitive

02.

Join our community of volunteers to learn how to safely and humanely trap unowned, outdoor cats and transport to spay/neuter clinics or into our foster program

03.

Become a foster parent for one or many cats (mostly kittens) and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you provided the safe haven and care that our rescue program could not exist without

04.

Adopt one cat from BCC’s foster program and save two - the cat you bring into your home and the new cat that our foster program now has availability to take in off the street
